Convincing presentations

In this course we cover the basic principles of a successful presentation, i.e., a presentation using a slideshow (e.g., PowerPoint, Keynote). The content depends on the scope of the course and the target audience and may include, for example: the relationship between speaker and slideshow, between expression and content, as well as design, aesthetics, information, and impact. Persuasive argumentation

Argumentation is central to most professional activities, but how does one argue clearly and effectively? In this course we look at the basic principles of successful argumentation and practical tools for persuasion. The content depends on the scope of the course and the target audience and may include, for example: what is a good argument? How can arguments go wrong? What does dialogic argumentation look like? How do I recognize and respond to bad arguments (so-called fallacies)? We look at argumentation in different genres: speech, text, and debate.

4. Training for teachers

The focus here is on content that relates generally to the democratic mission of the school or specifically to the subject of rhetoric. Both theory and classroom exercises are included in all courses, which can be about public speaking, debate, argumentation, writing for a cause, hate speech, and the more general question: What is critical thinking and how do I get better at it?

5.
